No casualties reported after house in Bedfordview caught fire

No casualties were reported after a fire erupted at a premise in Bowling Road on May 30.

DEMS responded to the scene at approximately 17:20.

“Bedfordview and Edenvale fire station crews simultaneously responded to the scene for intervention.

On arrival, firefighters found a four-bedroom house filled with smoke emanating from one of the bedrooms completely engulfed in flames.

“The entire bedroom furniture was well alight,” said the DEMS district manager and media liaison William Ntladi.

“The roof section of that room had already collapsed due to the fire damage on arrival,” he added.

The operation firefighters comprised six from Bedfordview and five from Edenvale fire stations respectively.

Two fire engines were used on the day.

Two attack lines (fire hoses) were connected to battle the blaze.

“Flames were contained and prevented from spreading to the entire house structure.

“The cause of the fire is still undetermined, and the scene was handed over to fire safety officers for further investigations. No casualties were recorded on the scene,” he said.
