Watch: Alleged attempt at a landgrab in Klopper Park halted

Between 60 to 100 people arrived at the property on the morning of June 4 and started to demarcate land.

Authorities are on the scene of what seems to be an attempted landgrab in Klopper Park.

News editor Stephan Lehman is in Klopper Park at a vacant property where reportedly between 60 to 100 people arrived to demarcate land.

Attempts were halted and demarcation markers have since been removed.

A community meeting has been scheduled for 16:00 on June 7 at Sizwe Secondary School.

Ward 92 Clr Kade Guerreiro is also on the scene along with SAPS, EMPD and several security companies.

“I do not know what you have been told. This land does not belong to us and thus it is illegal to take this land,” he told residents.

“I will invite the mayor, speaker and heads of the department to address you at the meeting,” said Guerreiro.

He requested the people to leave the area.
