Edenvale Senior Citizens Society treats the elderly to lunch

“We invite people to come to the community centre and look around or ask questions between 08:00 and 14:00.”

The Edenvale Senior Citizens Society (ESCS) held an Easter-themed lunch for its members and guests at the Edenvale Community Centre on March 28 and saw 58 community members attend.

ESCS committee member Linda Ranwell said although the turnout was not as large as the society anticipated, they believed the long weekend affected the turnout.

“The members who did come enjoyed a delicious three-course meal with drinks available to purchase.”

She said the De Bakery donated chocolate bunnies for them to add to their raffle prizes.

“We have an ongoing joker competition for which the prize increases each month if not won.”

Linda said the prize now stands at R1 835.

Of the many activities, Bingo is one of the most popular. It is open to anyone every second Thursday morning.

The senior’s gym also attracts about 40 members every Tuesday and Friday at 10:00.

The society’s charity shop is open every weekday from 09:00 until noon, and the public can buy clothing at reasonable prices.

Guests and Edenvale Seniors Citizens Society members enjoy the Easter-themed lunch held at the end of March. The winner of the raffle, Marilyn Harper, is on the left.

Linda said the society is always looking for new members.
