Bedfordview acting police station commander Col Sinothi Ndaba told Bedfordview Edenvale News the incident was a domestic dispute involving a couple who is leaving the country tonight.

Ndaba said the couple was in South Africa for work. A dispute arose due to missing documents, as they are set to depart South Africa on a flight later tonight. No arrests were made.

The misinformation spread rapidly via WhatsApp and Bedfordview community Facebook groups, sparking concern among residents.

The social media post incorrectly claimed that three women had been rescued from a Kloof Road property where they were held against their will by a human trafficking syndicate.

“This is not true. It was a domestic dispute involving people leaving South Africa tonight,” said Ndaba.
