EMPD urges motorists to collect their licence cards

Motorists and applicants are urged to collect their driving licence cards from the various driving licence testing centres.

The EMPD and the Licensing Division urge motorists to collect their driver’s licence cards after renewing them.
In regulation 108 (4), applicants are expected to collect their driving licence cards within 120 days.

Failure to do so will see the driving licence testing centres (DLTC) deface all unclaimed driving licence cards.

According to EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, DLTCs have a challenge storing unclaimed driving licence cards because there are thousands at various centres.

“We, therefore, plead with applicants to visit the DLTC where they applied for renewal of the driving licence within four to six weeks to collect their cards.

“After 120 days, all driving licence cards not collected will be defaced, and eNaTIS updated accordingly.

“This means the applicant will have to reapply for the renewal of their driving licence and pay for it again,” said Thepa.

All applicants are urged to collect their cards within 120 days, as legislation prescribes, to avoid reapplication.
