Local residents have their say on the state of the roads

"Motorists, especially taxi drivers, need to be respectful of others on the road.”

With the start of the new year and service delivery in the spotlight community members were asked for their opinions about the condition of the roads and what they believe needed to be done to improve the situation?

Shorty Mlaza said, “The potholes in Edenvale are bad, there are areas like the Avenue that are worse than the CBD but there are other towns and areas where the roads are worse. From what I have seen some improvements are being made to the roads.”

Arthur King said, “Although Edenvale is clean there are too many potholes, water leaks and litter. We need to change and improve our environment.”

Rocky Smith said, “The conditions of Edenvale’s roads are cantankerous, their condition is really pathetic. There was a pipe that burst before Christmas, it’s now creating a pothole. The cars keep driving through it making it worse and we don’t know who to contact. Communication between the municipality and the community needs to improve, even though the re-tarring of Andries Pretorius was a welcome relief.”

John Grootboom said, “There are potholes but in the CBD it’s alright. My biggest concern as a pedestrian is the amount of traffic lights that don’t work and drivers that don’t obey the rules of the road. Motorists, especially taxi drivers, need to be respectful of others on the road.”
