The Edenvale Senior Citizen’s Society’s market was a hit among the locals.
Held on November 25 at Edenvale Community Centre, committee member Linda Ranwell said they host the morning markets three times a year.
“It enables working people to see the lovely things we have to sell. There was a good turnout but many people stated that they were not aware of our society,” she explained.

Through the market, they were able to raise much-needed funds.
“We need funds to help cover the expenses of running a centre that caters for the elderly.
“We are only open on weekday mornings but have many activities that the elderly can participate in, including yoga, table tennis, art classes, cards, darts, bingo, line dancing as well as a senior’s gym,” she said.
In addition, the society has a kitchen where they make meals including toasted sandwiches as well as tea and coffee.
They also have a thrift shop selling clothes, donated by the community.
