Tails and Whiskers celebrates eight birthday

Tails and Whiskers birthday bash market hit by power outage.

Edenvale’s Tails and Whiskers Charity Shop celebrated its eighth birthday on November 11 at its new premises.

The shop is now on the corner of Van Riebeeck Avenue, 3rd Street and 8th Avenue (next door to their former shop).

The organisation held a market to mark this milestone and raise funds for its beneficiaries.

Despite 10 minutes after opening, Edenvale was hit by a power failure.

However, that did not discourage locals as people continued to queue to support the event and animals in need.

Founders Sharon Blackwell and Renee Rosolimoss thanked the community for their continued support.

“We can raise funds for the animals in need and support our benefactors with food and sterilisation because of the continued support from the community,” shared Blackwell.

They can now collect and sell bigger items since the move to the new venue.

“The bigger the item, the more animals we can help, and the community seems happy with the new place.

“We are shocked by the number of people who came out. It is nice to see families out together having fun and doing good for the voiceless,” added Blackwell.

The shop is open Mondays to Wednesdays from 08:00 to 16:00, Thursdays from 08:30 to noon and Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00.

However, they are available until 16:00 Monday to Saturday for donations.

The beneficiaries from Boxer Rescue SA, Leanne Williams and Sonja thanked the charity shop for their help over the years.

“They have helped us with raising funds, feeding our animals and sterilisation since 2016. We couldn’t have done it without them. They have been phenomenal. They have also adopted two boxers from us,” said the duo.
