Farm Corner delights residents

“A highlight was the dancing rooster, which left residents and staff members delighted.”

Farmyard fun was the order of the day when the Farm Corner visited residents at Thembalami Care Centre and Max Ordman Deaf Association.

Smiles stretched from ear to ear, eyes sparkled and hands were eager to connect with furry, feathery and woolly friends.

The October 5 event which demonstrated how therapeutic animals can be saw Farm Corner bring ponies, chickens, goats, ducks, sheep and more to interact with the residents.

“There was huge excitement among residents as they waited for their hairy, furry, woolly and feathered visitors to arrive,” said Elize Raath, deputy manager of the care centre.

Rand Aid’s Doreen Calder shows her delight while petting a donkey.

“It was the first time that farm animals were brought to our premises and what a hit the event was!”

Each animal was introduced to the audience, before the interactive part of the visit got underway.

The day saw residents petting, feeding and talking to the special visitors.
