Police continue to investigate ATM bombing in Eastleigh

“The deployment of all police officers at all times, along with our stakeholders, will be prioritised.”

Police are still investigating the bombing of an ATM after an explosion rocked Eastleigh.

In light of the bombing, Edenvale SAPS called on the community to remain vigilant as the festive season approaches.

According to Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile, communications officer for Edenvale SAPS, the explosion occurred on October 6.

Initial investigations indicated that an unidentified explosive was used in the bombing.

Mashile said the explosion did not breach the ATM’s main safe.

Surveillance footage captured three suspects involved in the crime. It is being scrutinised by the investigating officers.

As the festive season approaches, Edenvale SAPS is taking this incident with utmost seriousness.

“The deployment of all police officers at all times, along with our stakeholders, will be prioritised,” stated Mashile.

Mashile said Edenvale SAPS management and community stakeholders assured the community that they would do their utmost to prevent similar incidents.

He urged anyone with video footage relevant to the crime to contact the police and assist with the investigation.
