The CoE concluded two property lease agreements with telecommunication company GDF Holdings (Pty) Ltd.

The MMC for Infrastructure and Real Estate, Kgopelo Hollo, announced this at the Lease Agreements Summit on September 15.

GDF Holdings leased municipal land to develop infrastructure for telecommunication network transmission.

The lease period is nine years and 11 months.

Speaking at the summit, Hollo said the collaboration with GDF Holdings would create job opportunities for the residents of Ekurhuleni.

He encouraged other investors interested in using municipal properties to visit the real estate offices at the city’s customer care centres.

Hollo urged developers to get authorisation from the city before making permanent developments on leased properties because developments on leased land would belong to the CoE when the lease expired.
