Community urged to support Bedfordview Primary’s fun day

The Bedfordview community rallied together to support a local primary school for its solar power fundraising event.

Bedfordview Primary School welcomed spring in style.

The school’s annual family fun day fundraising event was a hit among locals on September 2.

This event, which has been a longstanding tradition, plays a crucial role in funding essential projects at the local school.

This year, the funds raised are earmarked for two projects: expanding the school’s solar power system and rebuilding the hall to make it larger and more accommodating for gatherings.

The event was organised by Michelle Gazard, a dedicated parent and member of the school’s governing body.

“All the parents are involved, all our food stalls and second-hand stalls are managed and operated by parents, with no outside vendors,” said Gazard.

“The turnout and support from the community was brilliant. The Bedfordview community is amazing because they always give us sponsorships in terms of vouchers and other amazing things. The whole community comes together for us.

“Thank you for the support as without our community, we would never be able to do the things we can for our school,” shared Gazard.

She added that the need for an expanded solar power system is critical, as many of their classrooms rely on power for teaching, particularly for projectors and the computer room.

“A lot of our classrooms cannot operate when there’s load shedding or power outages we end up having to cancel those classes.

Showing support for the school were Liz Ribeiro and Michelle Vivian.

“For instance, we have a robotics class and our computer rooms, so we need to have a continuous supply of power and we need the internet to educate our children.”

Principal Gregory Bryant emphasised the pivotal role played by Gazard in putting together the event, “None of this would be possible without Michelle.”
