Homeless man calls for a safer and cleaner Edenvale

“Sometimes at night, you see different types of people who don’t sleepwalk and you see them with weapons.”

With the hope of creating a safer and more appealing town, Edenvale resident Fraser Brown has called on members of the community to act civil.

Brown, a member of the Edenvale homeless community, believes drinking in public and the use of drugs, specifically in public areas, contribute to the town’s degradation.

Brown has lived on and off of Edenvale’s streets since 2020.

He said when people drink in public, they become a nuisance to the community and litter by discarding empty bottles.

“Once we look into the problems, such as whether bottle stores are licensed to operate, we can start addressing the problem,” said Brown.

“It is unacceptable that people walk around town and drink from alcohol bottles. When people drink, they often become violent.”

He believes more needs to be done by enforcement to protect the community from these and other social ills.

Echoing Edenvale City Improvement District’s motto, Brown said the town needs to become clean, green and safe for the community.

He said his passion for assisting Edenvale stems from wanting to serve humanity.

“The Lord appointed me and brought me to the right place to assist Edenvale.

“I strongly believe that charity starts at home, and Edenvale is my home.”

Brown said he is also aware of people who carry dangerous weapons, which he believes contributes to the town’s lawlessness.

As a homeless person, he said he also wants to feel safe on the town’s streets.

“Sometimes at night, you see different types of people who don’t sleepwalk and you see them with weapons.”

In light of his concerns, Brown urged community members to report security matters to security companies and law enforcement.

He encouraged parents to teach their children morals and good discipline to create a better society.
