Edenvale and Hillbrow police team up to investigate Zwicker’s death

“Depending on the result of the autopsy a case of murder may be opened.”

The Edenvale and Hillbrow SAPS are investigating multiple cases after the death of Edenvale resident Adolf Zwicker.

The investigation came after the 79-year-old was declared missing on July 7.

According to the missing person alerts, Zwicker was last seen when taken to Edenvale Hospital for treatment and later discharged.

When he disappeared, Zwicker’s white S40 Volvo was last seen in Edenvale.

The Edenvale SAPS corporate communications officer, Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile, said the Edenvale Police Station registered a missing persons case after Zwicker disappeared.

He said officers went all out to try and locate Zwicker.

At this stage, it is unclear who took Zwicker to the hospital.

Mashile said Zwicker’s body was found on July 20 in the Hilbrow SAPS policing precinct and his Volvo in Edenvale.

Mashile said the Edenvale SAPS was investigating the cases, including house burglaries with intent to commit a crime and malicious damage to property.

“Some valuables were taken from the property and SAPS arrested several suspects,” said Mashile.

He said the items’ value could not be determined.

He said Edenvale Police Station is waiting for the results of the autopsy from Hilbrow to determine the cause of death.
