Edenglen claim bronze at Majorette championships

"After an exciting season in Gauteng, the team was eager to showcase their skill on the national stage."

Learners from Edenglen High School competed in the 2023 South African Majorette and Cheerleading (SAMCA) National Championships.

Attended by over 100 teams from across the country, the championship saw 49 learners from Edenglen head down to Durban during the July holidays.

According to Edenglen High’s PR and marketing coordinator, Itumeleng Gwangwa, the last time they held the national championships was three years ago due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“After an exciting season in Gauteng, the team was eager to showcase their skill on the national stage,” said Itumeleng.

Some of Edenglen High School’s drum majorettes competing in the South African Majorette and Cheerleading (SAMCA) National Championships.

The girls participated in a large group – flag, large group – pom non-prop, small drill and large drill.

“Having qualified for finals in all their heats, the team performed beautifully.”

They walked away with two bronze medals.

“This was an outstanding achievement and result,” said Itumeleng.
