Local foundation brings relief to almost 6 000 families

The Tzu Chi Winter Relief campaign benefitted many families in the Primrose, Benrose, Lanseria, and Tembisa regions.

More than 6 900 families in Gauteng will be recipients of the Tzu Chi Foundation’s Winter Relief programme.

So far, 5 500 families in the Primrose, Benrose, Lanseria and Tembisa areas have benefitted from the campaign.

The packages had a range of food items, clothing and 10kg of rice or maize meal.

The rice came from Tzu Chi in Taiwan.

Tzu Chi volunteers attended the July 8 distribution to Delport and Marathon settlements residents in Primrose.

As stated by the organisation’s Tim Huang, the Tzu Chi way is for people to spread love by helping one another.

“Today, we help you. Tomorrow, you help the next person,” he said.

Several bamboo tubes called bamboo banks were circulated for donations.

Volunteer Vis Naidoo said, “It was inspiring to see people receive their packages live the Tzu Chi motto – give even if you only have a little.”
