Edenvale’s Tails and Whiskers Charity Shop continues to support animals in need

The community supported efforts to help animals in need on July 8 at the Tails and Whiskers Charity Shop.

Tails and Whiskers Charity Shop hosted a monthly market to raise funds for various animal welfare organisations.

With this, they want to ensure that vulnerable animals receive essential veterinary care, sterilisation, and adequate food.

The monthly market supports the NPOs Edenvale Ferals, Boxer Rescue South Africa, and Hellen White.

Boxer Rescue South Africa’s team at the charity market are Alet, Sonja and Leanne.

“Our aim is to raise funds to support the sterilisation of animals, ensuring they do not contribute to the growing population of strays.

“We also focus on providing proper nutrition and promoting responsible pet ownership through education.

“People need to understand that pets need to be safe and must be allowed to enjoy the freedom of their gardens,” said Sharon Blackwell, the co-founder of Tails and Whiskers Charity Shop.

To be able to generate funds, the charity shop relies on donations of second-hand items from the community.

They sell these items at the monthly market, with all proceeds going to the vet accounts of the supported animal welfare organisations.

Christopher Mynhardt, a representative from Edenvale Ferals, said they feed over 800 cats.

“Working alongside the charity shops significantly reduces the financial burden in covering our vet fees.”
