Edenvale entrance and exit points monitored ahead of national shutdown

Edenvale CPF advises community that extra deployment of resources will be on standby.

In light of the upcoming national strike planned for March 20, Edenvale stakeholders attended a meeting to plan the way forward.
Held on March 16, the meeting was attended by Edenvale SAPS, EMPD, Edenvale CPF and various law enforcement agencies and security stakeholders.
Edenvale CPF’s PRO Fiona Picket said a directive was issued for all members to be on alert from March 17 to 22.
She said the National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure will monitor the situation and associated risks.

In Edenvale entrances and exits to the town will be monitored 24 hours a day while the extra deployment of resources will be on standby.
Edenvale CPF assured the community that it is in regular contact, across multiple levels, with various stakeholders working closely with neighbouring CPFs and law enforcement agencies.

The forum said there have been several social media posts of tyres being placed in communities. Picket said members have removed any tyres which were reported.
“Should you be aware of tyres in a location contact Edenvale CPF or notify your security company.”

The following advice was provided to the community:
• Keep emergency groups free of unnecessary communication
• Do not share unverified information.
• Do not engage in activities that may incite violence or panic
• Should you need to travel, inform others, check your routes and plan accordingly.
• Stay informed by listening to the radio and following social media.
• Do not engage with any protestors.
