Brainy Birds to bring the Halloween fun

"We thought a Halloween fund-raiser would be perfect as a safe way for our community to get together and have some fun while supporting the sanctuary.”

In the hopes of spreading community spirit and raising much-needed funds, Brainy Birds Parrot Rescue invited community members to its annual Halloween Walk.
Set to be held on October 30, the NPO will have two walks at its facility this year, which marks the third year the organisation is hosting the event.
Uni, from Brainy Birds, said the organisation decided to start hosting the event as a way for it to raise funds.
“We thought a Halloween fund-raiser would be perfect as a safe way for our community to get together and have some fun while supporting the sanctuary.”
Since Brainy Birds decided to host the event, the organisation says it has only received positive feedback.
“Last year, we had so many people still waiting to get in when it started raining,” explained Uni.
“So many still stayed and many gave us a donation anyway. We appreciate the love and support of everyone.”
At this year’s event, Brainy Birds will have two walking routes which will include a shorter and less scary route for the children seven years old and younger.
2021 will also be the first year the organisation will be able to use the house on the property, and it plans to use it as a haunted house, which visitors will be sure to remember.
Besides having the opportunity to enjoy themselves attendees can look forward to sweet treats, boerewors rolls, pancakes, samoosas and chilli bites on sale.
Uni said community members will be able to purchase tickets online or at the door.
Online tickets guarantee a goodie bag for the u-16s while stocks last.
Card facilities will be available.
Uni thanked the community for the continued support of the organisation.
Any businesses or individuals who would like to assist or donate towards the event are encouraged to contact the NPO.
