Edenvale SAPS corporate communications officer W/O Jacob Mashile said the search formed part of Operation Shutdown, held under the command of Edenvale’s Vispol commander Lieutenant Colonel Lionel Chetty.

The joint operation between SAPS and stakeholders took place on May 12.

Mashile said after searching the vehicle a pellet gun, knife, crowbar and a solid steel wedged rod were found in it.

He said the suspects were taken to Edenvale Police Station and detained for being in possession of a dangerous weapon and possession of housebreaking implements.

“While the docket was being opened, a complainant arrived at the police station and reported an armed robbery,” said Mashile.

The complainant informed officers that three men in a red Fiat Uno robbed them of their cell phone at gun and knifepoint.
