Nine suspects arrested in Edenvale during operation

After SAPS met with representatives of the community, City of Ekurhuleni and EMPD to discuss crimes of concern, an operation was held which resulted in the arrest of several suspects.

Edenvale Police Station’s Warrant Officer Jacob Mashile said the meeting, held at the beginning of March, covered topics such as the illegal occupation of buildings, illegal immigrants and crimes of concern to the community.

He said the operation held on March 3 saw the arrest of nine suspects.

“Seven illegal immigrants were arrested and detained at our local police station.

“A fine of R15 000 was issued to a contractor for employing undocumented personnel,” said Mashile.

He said an additional two suspects were arrested; one for dealing dagga and the other a woman who was found to be in possession of a dangerous weapon.
