Community policing forums get a boost from provincial government

The promotional materials are earmarked for more effective CPF awareness campaigns.

Members of CPFs across Ekurhuleni gathered at The Lakes Hotel and Conference Centre recently to receive promotional materials sponsored by the Gauteng Department of Community Safety.

With the items comprising branded gazebos and tablecloths, the department hopes these will help CPFs that work hand-in-hand with 39 local police stations.

“We are grateful for these materials because we believe it will make the forums more visible and easily identifiable at community awareness campaigns,” said the SAPS Ekurhuleni district commissioner, Major General Anna Sithole.

“By engaging with the community, CPF members play a valuable role in gaining the community’s trust in the forums and the police, thus encouraging the sharing of information which could assist in combating crime.”

“It is of utmost importance that the CPF works closely with their dedicated police station’s Vispol members and social crime co-ordinators while serving the community with dignity and respect,” said MEC for Community Safety Faith Mazibuko.
