Holy Rosary learners team up with Tzu Chi Foundation to support local SPCA

Michela Scalone, a 12-year-old learner who serves as the head of outreach at Holy Rosary School, collaborated with the Tzu Chi Foundation in Bedfordview to create a positive impact within her community.

Michela Scalone (12), head of outreach at Holy Rosary School, teamed up with the Tzu Chi Foundation in Bedfordview to reach out to the Germiston Bedfordview SPCA.

Michela is a volunteer at the foundation.

A group of 20 volunteers spent their Saturday morning sorting and cleaning up the charity bookshop, spreading love and interacting with the dogs, as well as adding a bit of colour to a beautiful mural that was outlined by two other volunteers, Sonya McDonald and Janelle Sheehan.

Michela along with her sister Isabella also spent one of their mornings during the recent school holidays sprucing up the front office garden of the SPCA by planting colourful flowers for the staff.

Roxanne Bredenkamp, chairperson of the Germiston Bedfordview SPCA, shared her gratitude to Michela for all that she does and for bringing the volunteers from the Tzu Chi Foundation to share their love with the animals.

Tzu Chi’s next volunteer day event will take place on September 16.
