Local children set to celebrate Mandela Day

The Little Eden Society has invited the community to join them for 67 minutes on Mandela Day, to connect and make a lasting impact in the lives of their beloved residents in Kempton Park and Bapsfontein.

This year’s Mandela Day theme is ‘Climate, Food & Solidarity’, and the organisation is encouraging anyone interested in making a difference and creating a lasting impact in the lives of those with intellectual disabilities, to join them.

The society will be ready to welcome visitors on the day from 09:00 to 15:00, at both the Edenvale and Bapsfontein homes.

Visitors can donate disposable nappies, instant porridge or soft cereals for the residents, or second-hand items for the Little Eden Charity Shop.

Participants will be engaged in fun activities with the residents, maintenance work, or sorting out donations in the charity shop depot.

According to the CEO of Little Eden, Xelda Rohrbeck, it’s an ideal opportunity to make a difference and help to celebrate one of South Africa’s most inspiring leaders and icons, Nelson Mandela.

“We’d love as many people as possible to join us on the day, to help us continue our work in providing care and support for the 300 children and adults living with profound intellectual disability being cared for at our homes,” said Rohrbeck.

Those interested in participating on the day should email relationship officer Danica Savvi at dss@littleeden.org.za
