Little Eden in need of donations

With ongoing developments underway at , they erected a new depot at their Edenvale facility.

The new depot is specifically designed to ensure a more effective process of receiving and processing valuable donations from the community.

Public relations and communications coordinator Gaahele Mokgoro, said the depot is an extension of the society’s charity shop operation.

The charity shop aims to generate revenue, through their received donations, towards the care of the 300 children and adults at Little Eden’s two homes.

The manager of the charity shop, Khodani Muthige, said the new depot has a better layout.

According to him, this makes receiving and dispatching donated items an easier task. Compared to the previous depot, there is now adequate shelving for storage.

Mokgoro said the charity shop generates 6% of the R45m required to keep the doors of the organisation open.

“Currently, the charity shop is extremely low on donations, especially clothing items.

“We appeal to the community to open their hearts and donate their pre-loved clothing to the society,” said Mokgoro.

Some items they need include electrical goods, furniture, books, kitchenware, linen, appliances, toys, bric-a-brac and any other second-hand items.

She said the society relies on the support of donors and sponsors to continue providing love and care to some of the most vulnerable members of society.

The society has two charity shops, one in Edenvale and the other in Klopperpark.

Little Eden invited the community to visit its facilities to view some of the recent upgrades to the home and to witness first-hand their work carried out daily.
