Held on May 12 annually, this year’s theme was “Our nurses, our future.”
According to Edenvale Regional Hospital’s communications manager Thabile Mkhatshwa, nursing services make up the bulk of the professionals at the hospital.
She said more than 30% of the staff complement belongs to the profession.
The activities for the day started with a series of speeches from various professionals in the nursing field, including retired nurses.
“Nursing services manager Mackson Rankhumise thanked the nurses for their service and risking their lives for those in need,” said Thabile
“He alluded to the fact that the celebration of nurses should not be done solely on Nurses Day but rather, as a continued practice in institutions.”
