Easter delight found at Ron Smith

“When we asked the winners if they were going to share their spoils, they answered with a resounding no.”

Fun and happiness took centre stage at the Rand Aid Ron Smith Care Centre during a week-long Easter celebration.

The care centre’s Easter programme was filled with activities for the residents to enjoy.

Friends Carol Murphy (Cedar Park) and Drienie Horlacher (Lakeside) each won a chocolate bunny for finding the bunny picture on their residential wing.

This included painting, baking, word searches, quizzes, as well as arts and crafts.

“All the activities that also form part of the care centre’s regular recreational programme had an Easter theme, much to residents’ delight,” said Debbie Christen, RSCC’s manager of recreational programmes.

Residents had the opportunity to make Easter bunnies from knitted squares, decorate cupcakes with speckled eggs in a nest of icing, paint or colour in symbols or images of Easter and take part in a quiz.

The much-anticipated Easter egg hunt took place April 6, a joyous event for all the chocoholics, says Debbie.

Staff members hid Easter eggs and a picture of a happy Easter bunny for residents to find.

They were also on hand to help residents move around and provided helpful hints on where to find the eggs.

While the Easter bunny pictures were initially elusive, they rewarded residents who tracked them down with a large chocolate bunny each.

“When we asked the winners if they were going to share their spoils, they answered with a resounding no,” said Debbie.

Besides having Easter egg fun, residents enjoyed the lucky draw on Good Friday.
