Cleveland police arrest suspect for murder and attempted murder

Jordaan said the suspect, who faces charges of murder and attempted murder ,was also shot and injured during the shooting.

One suspect was arrested for murder and attempted murder after a shooting left a security officer dead.

Officers from Cleveland Police Station responded to the scene on February 23 at 06:30.

The shooting occurred in Malvern at the corner of Amant and Hereford streets.

Cleveland SAPS spokesperson Captain Johan Jordaan said at the scene officers found the body of the security guard and two suspects who had been shot and injured.

He said the two injured suspects were taken to a hospital for treatment.

“A 30-year-old suspect who was later arrested will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court as soon as he is discharged from hospital.

Jordaan said the suspect, who faces charges of murder and attempted murder ,was also shot and injured during the shooting.

Cleveland SAPS management condemned the murder and all serious crimes.

The police appealed to the community for assistance.

“We ask the community to come forward with any information about this case.

“All information will be kept confidential,” said Jordaan.
