Edenvale’s EMPD arrest four armed robbers

Seventeen cases were opened against the four, accusing them of armed robbery when cellphones, were taken.

Members of the EMPD’s Edenvale Precinct arrested four men on February 17 for an armed robbery in Kempton Park.

Firearms with ammunition were seized from the suspects.

After the vehicle was stopped officers found 16 smartphones, one 9mm Berretta pistol with defaced serial numbers and one magazine with one live round.

Officers were on patrol when they responded to a complaint of a silver Toyota Corolla sedan with four occupants robbing members of the public of their belongings, including smartphones, within the Norkem Park vicinity.

The suspects’ vehicle was spotted at the intersection of Skepoerboom and People avenues with the help of the victim, who was following it.

After the vehicle was stopped, officers found 16 smartphones, one 9mm Berretta pistol with defaced serial numbers and one magazine with a live round.

The quartet was marched to the Norkem Park Police Station, and as officers were opening a case of possession of an unlicensed firearm, more victims visited the police station to open cases.

Seventeen cases were opened against the four that accused them of armed robbery when cellphones were taken.

The detained foursome is expected to soon appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.
