Two centres join hands for therapy games

“It was good to see how much everyone enjoyed playing the games."

Rand Aid’s Thornhill Manor Retirement Village and Thembalami Care Centre joined forces to play occupational therapy games with their residents.

The February 8 event was organised by Thornhill resident Vicky Keenan, a retired occupational therapist who volunteers her time to Rand Aid.

“It was good to see how much everyone enjoyed playing the games.

“Some residents were saying they would not manage due to their limitations. However, with some encouragement, they participated and were so excited,” said Keenan.

She said everyone enjoyed the morning.

Thembalami resident Marion Oliphant with occupational therapy assistant Shirley Sibeko.

“It’s wonderful to build a relationship between Thornhill Manor and Thembalami and share ideas.

“We hope to take turns hosting future games mornings,” she added.
