According to Captain Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park SAPS, these are efforts to reduce crime and remove criminals from the community, especially during the festive season.

As a result, three suspicious-looking men were pulled over while driving in a white Chevrolet Aveo on Monument Road on November 29.

“Three dedicated and vigilant members were conducting stop-and-search operations on Monument Road. They spotted the men driving the vehicle,” said Mtshali.

“The officers allegedly stopped the vehicle and upon searching the occupants, they discovered two firearms, one of which was established to be a toy gun, a hammer, ammunition, knife and two registration plates of vehicles.”
All three suspects were arrested.

Mtshali also said that further investigations revealed that the vehicle the suspects were travelling in was allegedly reported hijacked in Alberton earlier in November.
