Center administrator Marlene Hooper blamed the poor turnout on the change of the dates by the blood bank.

To host markets when hosting blood drives to raise funds was the idea of the centre member Samantha Atrash.
Hooper said they had not been funded for a year.

“We are trying to get visibility because we do not have any kind of funding at the moment and we do not receive benefits from the local hospice shops.

“Our previous event was a major success, changing the date messed things up for us. However, we hope to do better with our next one,” she explained.

She is appealing to the community for support with future events as the centre is not allowed to take in patients with medical aids.
