Chess players make moves at Edenglen

The nine learners who participated are now internationally recognised.

Chess players from across Sothern Africa flocked to Edenglen High School for the National Colours Awards Chess Tournament.

The event was held between October 7 and 8.

Edenglen learners James Papoutsis, Danyel van Wyk, Thiona Nagappah, Motheo Lebea, Khanyiso Hlungwane, Adhi Ramcharan, Keanetse Letlonkane, Marissa Naidoo and Igwe McAntony participated in the World Chess Federation accredited event.

Chess players, young and old descend on Edenglen High School when the school hosted the National Colours Awards Chess Tournament.

The nine learners who participated are now internationally recognised.

They played against some of the best players from South Africa, Lesotho and Botswana.

Its chess girls received a certificate of excellence for participating.

Certificates were also awarded to Mr Mambika and Mrs Mthombeni during the awards ceremony.
