Local man exhibits art with a pencil

The self-taught sketch artist has drawn many pieces for high profile people around the country. He hopes to receive recognition from people all over the world.

Artist Lucky Khoza (24), from Primrose, hopes to inspire the youth through his artistic work.

Lucky, who is a self-taught artist, has shared his talent with many high-profile people and hopes to be a role model for the youth through his work.

“I’ve been drawing for seven to eight years and people only started recognising my talents in recent years,” said Khoza.

He got his first break while he was in Witbank.

“I did most of my art using pencils, pens and I also did paintings. I was in Witbank when I met a mall manager who allowed me to showcase my talent by having a space in the mall where everyone could see me do the drawings in real time at the mall,” said Khoza.

Khoza has drawn many people, including DJ Maphorisa, DJ Tira and Kabza De Small. He has also done pieces of JZ and Rick Ross which he hopes to get recognition for.

He said his passion started as a hobby.

“My role models in the industry are the Nigerian artists Arinze Stanely Eybengwa and Kelvin Okarfor,” said Khoza.

Khoza sold about 20 art pieces last year and he hopes to be a role model to young children in the community and inspire them to keep away from negative influences through art.
