Ekurhuleni man helps the less fortunate with proceeds of selling eggs

We should always make time to help others, regardless of how busy we are or what issues we might be facing.

Goerge Mfana has come up with the “eggcellent” concept of selling eggs to assist him to collect money for the poor and keeping his organisation afloat.

This is while the world struggles with the ups and downs of Covid-19 and the economic crisis.

Every egg sale, in Mfana’s opinion, is important since the proceeds will be used to meet the needs of the recipients.

The foundation finds it difficult to garner sufficient and continuous funding for its work.

“Getting in touch with the right donors is a crucial part of this difficulty.

Since we lack the local capacity for resource mobilisation, we should move forward with our projects, organisations, and finances rather than relying solely on major donors.

We chose to sell eggs, and every cent we make from sales would go to helping those in need.

“In order to improve the lives of those in need, we are asking our community to support us. Any support you can give us will be greatly appreciated.”

Mfana contributes to his community through his charity, Help a Kid, which provides school uniforms and shoes to local schools, as well as food donations to the community.

“My upbringing was not pleasant, but it helped mould me into the person I am today. I used to go to school with torn shoes. I do not want any more young children to go through that.

“Helping people is my life’s work. Helping others can mean many different things depending on who you ask. But for me, assisting someone else means making their life better.

“One of the most fundamental and sacred human values is helping others. It is one of the principles we ought to uphold at all times.

We should always make time to help others, regardless of how busy we are or what issues we might be facing.

“It promotes our self-esteem and fosters relationships with others. Helping others makes us feel as though we are a part of something greater than ourselves, which is satisfying.

“In addition to giving us a sense of purpose, helping others makes us feel needed and valued,” said Mfana.
