According to Captain Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for Kempton Park Police Station, both the bodies were found in an open veld near JJ Maritz & Son, on Pretoria Road.

“Although the bodies were found on the same day (September 15), they were found distances apart,” said Mtshali.

“The first body was discovered around 11:50 by a passerby who informed the police and on arrival, members found a completely decomposed body of an unknown male.

“There was a rope hanging from a tree nearby, which raises suspicions that the victim may have committed suicide.”

It was reported that a second body was discovered by a passerby later that day around 16:00.

“The body is of a male person covered with mud all over the body, and clothing could not be established clearly due to the mud.

“The second victim is estimated to be in his late 40s. We are unable to estimate the age of the first body due to advanced decomposition.

“There have been many bodies discovered around that area and it raises questions and great concern as to who is dumping bodies and why,” said Mtshali.

“We request anyone who may have reported a missing person to contact the officers investigating the inquests.”
