Investigations done after patient dies on arrival at Edenvale Hospital

"Upon arrival, the patient was assessed and found not to have any signs of life and was declared dead on arrival."

A body was retrieved from Edenvale Regional Hospital for further investigation after a patient was declared dead on arrival.

Thabile Mkhatshwa, communications manager for the hospital, said the 28-year-old patient was assessed on September 5.

“Upon arrival, the patient was assessed and found not to have any signs of life and was declared dead on arrival,” said Mkhatshwa.

Mkhatshwa said Sandringham SAPS was informed by the hospital to manage the case further.

“The forensics unit retrieved the patient for further investigation,” said Mkhatshwa.

She said further information would be provided by the SAPS as the matter is under their investigation.
