Meet Ward 18’s committee of Edenvale

Once elected, members support their respective ward councillor and serve the community.

Comprised of residents of Ward 18, the ward committee hope to work alongside councillor and MMC Heather Hart to improve Edenvale.

Ward committee members report matters affecting the ward and the community to the municipality in the hope of creating a better community.

Hart said committee members are elected to represent and interact with various interest groups in their community.

On each ward committee, there are 12 positions available. Community members can fill 10 of those positions.

The two other positions are filled by the ward councillor, who is the chairperson of the committee and the ward coordinator, Zweli Nkalitshana.

Mzwakhe Radebe is region A’s regional manager for ward committees. This is the region Edenvale falls under,
Each committee member interacts with a different sector of the community.

On August 18 during Ward 18’s most recent ward committee meeting, its members were introduced to the NEWS.

Ward 18’s committee include:

• Catherine Kate Ngwira – faith-based organisations

• Wandile Mangaliso – youth

• Thabitha Mamabolo – disability and aged

• Lisa Michelle Atkins – environmental development

• Realeboha Mofolo – infrastructure services

• Simon Tebogo Molemoge – economic development and city planning

• Nosipho Helen Matshaya – health and social development

• Malaise Andrew Morifi – sports heritage recreation arts and culture

The two sectors of community safety and women and children remain vacant.
