Annual Girl Power Cup launched in Ekurhuleni

Super Falcons was the winning team on the soccer field whilst the chess winners were Katlego Mbombi in first, Linda Mbambo in second and Mtileni Ntsako in third place.

This year Lima League decided to celebrate Women’s Day by introducing the first annual Girl Power Cup, catering for chess, netball, and football players.

The event took place on August 9 at Nyiko Primary School in Thembisa and it was aimed at empowering and supporting young girls through sports.

According to Derrick Maphoru, coordinator and chairperson of Lima Sports Programme, the tournament boasted over 470 participants.

Sbong’umsa took the winning title in the U13, U15 and U17 netball.
