Held in collaboration with Greenstone Shopping Centre and House of Style Models, the children enjoyed a day being spoilt at the centre.

Founder of the NPC Annamaria Lechki said the 30 children from Edenvale and Primrose of various ages were from gender-based violence homes, shelters and disadvantaged backgrounds.

They were accompanied by 18 adult caregivers.

Staring the day at the Fun Company, the children were given unlimited tokens for an hour to spend.

After the arcade, the children and the adults spent some time at Rush where they bounced off the walls in the indoor trampoline park’s party room.

Annamaria said after everyone had burnt off their energy, they were treated to a meal at Spur.

She said afterwards each child received three doughnuts from Krispy Kreme.

The doughnuts were beyond yummy, said Annamaria.

The children also received gift packs from Yokico and House of Style Models.

Jackie Allen of House of Style Models and a long-time supporter of RySky said the event was beyond awesome.

Over the years I’ve helped with numerous Mandela Day events but this group of children was one of the nicest I have worked with, said Jackie.

She said Miss Edenvale Kefentse Modei and Mr Edenvale JP Botha were at the event.

Annamaria said while at the centre a good Samaritan also contributed to the fun.

The woman saw what was happening and bought a voucher from Milky Lane so that the children could have ice cream.

Shortly afterwards Milky Lane staff gave all the adults ice cream and one of the staff members just winked.

After the Greenstone event, Rysky went on to distribute 2000 meals it had cooked.

Annamaria said the meal were distributed in Boksburg, Roodepoort and Edenvale.

The 2000 meals formed part of Chef with Compassion’s 362 716 meals distributed on Mandela Day,” said Annamaria.

RySky, a beneficiary of CWC, receives produce from the organisation.

Looking back on the day Annamaria said she enjoyed everything about the festivities including the hiccups.
If there were no hiccups, I would have been more stressed, said Annamaria.
