Ward 36 Clr Wendy Morgan standing in for Ward 92 Clr Kade Guerreiro said the road was dug up to facilitate repairs to a water line.
It is believed that the water leak was caused by fibre contractors working in the area.

While the water leak was repaired, nothing has been done to reinstate the road.

The affected area is the slip road from Herman Street into Koornhoff Road.

As a result of the large-scale excavations, motorists and heavy-duty vehicles cannot make use of the slipway and traffic builds up at the intersection.

Last week there was also a serious crash at the intersection.

The Bedfordview and Edenvale NEWS sent an enquiry for comment to the City of Ekurhuleni’s media department on June 14.
The NEWS questioned when the water leak was reported and when it was repaired.

The enquiry to CoE also focused on the cause of the water leak and whether contractors for a fibre company were to blame for the leak.

In the enquiry, the NEWS questioned whether contractors could be held responsible for damage caused to municipal infrastructure and repair thereof.

Comment was requested by June 17.

At the time of going to print, no comment was received.
