4 ways to incorporate abstract art into your décor

Abstract art can easily be incorporated into a living space. How can this be done?

You don’t need to be a creative director to curate a place full with abstract art. When it comes to the visual language that has no rules, it’s best not to overthink it. Fortunately, the internet era has made it easy to buy everything from local artists to famous reproductions from the greats.

Here are the four ways to incorporate abstract art into you décor to create vibrancy and interest in your home.

1.    Start with neutral tones

Shape and colour aren’t required in every piece of abstract wall art. If you’re looking for a simple method to include this skill into your house, a neutral canvas is a great option.

A nice place to start is with artists who specialise in simple graphics. Without over-stimulating the eye, you can achieve a great level of sophistication.

2.    Focus on the tonality of your room

If you have a few accent colours in your home, it’s a fantastic idea to select abstract wall art that has a lot of the same hues. Installing a canvas with similar colours will help the area look finished and well-planned.

If you are more of an adventurous decorator, why not take this entire art thing by the horns and hang a gallery wall in your home?

It is a good idea to combine your work of abstract art by surrounding it with other complementary mediums such as photographs, sketches with a minimal amount of detail, or even portraits done in a traditional style. Any room benefits from having something like this included in it.

It’s possible that when you think of where to hang abstract wall art, the first places that come to mind are the obvious ones, such as over the couch or next to the bed. However, why not get creative with the placement?

Because abstract art is, by its very nature, supposed to be surprising, why not display it in an unexpected space like your bathroom, kitchen, or entry hallway?

3.    Create a dedicated wall space

Dedicating one wall in a space to feature abstract art might help keep it from appearing to have too much going on visually.

In this manner, you won’t bog down your living space by trying to accomplish too much or confuse the eye by giving it too many different areas to gaze. It is easier on the spectator as they enter the room if only one wall is used for the centrepiece of the display.

4.    Take space into consideration

When the human eye encounters abstract art, it’s frequently on a massive scale. This makes for a stunning statement, but before you mount it, you should think about the area you have available.

If you are working with a smaller apartment space, it is probable that a print size that ranges from medium to tiny will be a better match so that it does not overrun the room.

It is important to get comfortable with the idea that your artwork and your interior design do not have to match each other exactly; in fact, it is to your advantage from an aesthetic standpoint if your artwork is the focal point of the room.

It doesn’t matter what your sense of style is, the abstract artwork you choose will always make a statement because, in many ways, it was made specifically for that purpose.
