She started Petra’s Edu-Playgroup in May 1992 from her parent’s garage in St Andrews, Bedfordview. At the time, Petra only had two pupils.

Petra’s Edu-Playgroup celebrated 30 years.

“More and more children joined and I took over the garage, as well as the playroom, eventually moving to a house on Milner Avenue with four groups of children.”

In 2002, Petra moved her school to Senderwood with six groups of children and a team of teachers and assistants.

“Thirty years later, we have grown from strength to strength with a large number of learners in seven groups from ages three months to six years.

Petra’s Edu-Playgroup celebrated 30 years with visits from past learners, staff, families and special guests.

“I base the success of our school on the genuine, close relationships and connections formed among the staff, pupils and families in our school who enjoy a play-based environment for learning.

“Each child is respected for their unique qualities, strengths and interests,” Petra said.

“Learning has no limits and we encourage children to nurture their strengths while building on their weaknesses.”
She said that children are her passion.

“They are intelligent, capable and strong. My passion to ensure that children are respected, valued, seen and heard is so strong that I will do everything to give them the learning environment they deserve.”
