On April 17, a convoy of five cars and four trailers, packed with donations from the community, left Arrowe Park Scout grounds for the Baden Powel (BP) Campsite in Durban.

Two days earlier, Gauteng Rovers of Scout SA coordinated the collection of relief packages and donations to be transported to Durban.

First Wychwood Scout Hall was used as one of the eight collection points in Gauteng for the donation drive.

Donations that were requested included bottled water, blankets, tinned food, baby essentials, sanitary products for women and clothing.

Due to its essential services status, the donation-laden convoy was able to travel through checkpoints en route to Durban, where it met with other Scout and Rover Groups from KZN.

While assisting those in need, the Rovers partnered with community relief efforts and the Ubuntu Army.

Some of the organisations they assisted included the Crestview Community Centre, an old age home, a church, as well as the communities of Inunda, Ntuzuma and Mzinyathi.
