Held on April 9, the market was described as a success by Tails and Whiskers founder Sharon Blackwell.

Beneficiaries who had stalls at the market included Edenvale Ferals, Warriors for Africa’s Wildlife and Hellen White – In the Community.

“We appreciate the support from the community, especially on such a cold day,” said Sharon.

She explained the store’s mini-markets allow beneficiaries of Tails and Whiskers the opportunity to raise funds.

The next market will be held on Freedom Day (April 27), with another scheduled for Mother’s Day (May 7).

Besides inviting community members to the upcoming markets, Sharon encouraged those cleaning out their homes to consider donating any unwanted items, in a good condition, to the charity store.

The Third Street store sells second-hand items donated to it to raise funds for several animal organisations in Gauteng.

Donations can be delivered at the store’s back gate located on Eighth Avenue on Mondays and Fridays between 10:00 and 16:00.

“Anything in a good condition will be greatly appreciated,” said Sharon.

Following the store’s re-opening its doors in 2020 after lockdown a back garden was created.

The back garden is open on Saturdays between 10:00 and 13:00.
