Writers 2000 is an interest group for writers at all levels and has been running its annual writing competition for many years.
The 2022 competition has been launched and interested writers are encouraged to put their thinking caps on and come up with original ideas.

The theme for the competition is A Twist of Fate and this must be the inspiration for these categories:
• Fiction
• Flash fiction
• Non-fiction
For the other categories, entrants can choose their own topic. These are:
• Poetry
• Haiku
• Life’s Like That

Both Writers 2000 members and non-members are welcome to enter.
One of the advantages of the group being able to have actual (as opposed to only virtual) meetings again is the opportunity to hand out awards received by members during the lockdown.
At the March meeting, chairperson Meggan Preuss presented some 2020 awards:
• Gus Coward received the Pen Cup for writing achievements within the group
• Nicolette Gardiner received the Carpenter Cup for her external writing achievements
In 2021, several non-members featured among the prize winners in the annual writing competition.
All writers and aspirant writers are invited to enter their writing in the various categories.
