Prayer Day held for Edenvale SAPS

“If we are divided, we won’t win the fight against crime. We are going to fall.”

Edenvale SAPS station commander Col Ntombomzi Basholo was anointed when SAPS members and church leaders united for a prayer day held for the station.
Held on March 23 at Siloam Word of Truth Edenvale, the event was organised by Employee Health and Wellness and Basholo.

She said the event allowed church leaders to pray for members of Edenvale SAPS and the community.
“We need God’s divine intervention. We need God to heal us in many ways. We need to pray for unity,” highlighted Basholo.

She said by uniting everyone, community members and SAPS can work together.
“If we are divided, we won’t win the fight against crime. We are going to fall. Pray for us, the station and our families. We need God.”
Also in attendance was Edenvale SAPS psychologist WO Marumo Chulo, who spoke about mental health and well-being.

“Psychology in the SAPS is about wellness and development of the well-being of members and the community at large,” said Chulo.

“Helping an officer function at their full potential means they will be able to serve in a manner they are expected to. So the community will then be in good hands.”

Chulo encouraged officers to work on their relationships with colleagues by working together, and understanding and trusting each other.

Sgt Jacob Mashile, Edenvale Police Station communications officer, reminded members to understand the code of conduct they signed when they joined the SAPS.
He said the event was built on the prayer meetings implemented by former station commander Col Eunice Nzuza and Edenvale CPF.
