Action aplenty at Benoni Actions Sports

152 players from the club were recently awarded provincial caps.

The Benoni Action Sports Club (BASC) recently held a capping ceremony where 152 action netball players who will represent Gauteng East in Inter-Provincial Tournaments (IPTs) were awarded their provincial colours.

All the players who received their caps were selected from the top players participating in action sports at the Benoni Action Sports Arena.

The players were selected from the unders to the mixed and open teams and will take part in several IPTs in April.

The u-16, u-17 and u-19 teams will take part in the junior league IPT at Hillfox Arena in Roodepoort from March 31 to April 5. The men, ladies and mixed teams will compete in the senior opens and mixed IPT at Rustenburg Arena from April 25 – 30.

At the recently concluded Overs and Under IPT at Brackenfell Arena in Cape Town, the ladies u-23 claimed a bronze medal in both the action netball 6s and action netball 7s. The ladies over 35 finished fifth overall.

In another win for the BASC, Alicia Weingartz, Izel du Plessis, Jamie Claasen, Rolaine Slabbert, Lirieze van Rensburg and Nicole Gertenbach have all been selected to join the national training squads in preparation for the upcoming World Indoor Netball Association (WINA) World Cup.
