CoE spokesperson Zweli Dlamini said the February 14 visit was conducted to ensure the facility is appropriately run.

Zitha was accompanied by Mpho Mashego and Busi Mhlanga, chief pharmacist and acting facility manager, respectively.

During her visit, the MMC inspected the pharmacy and looked for any expired medicine on the shelves and proper storage of vaccines.

“Vaccines must be stored in specific conditions to avoid degradation, usually defined specifically by their manufacturer,” said Zitha.

“I am pleased to have observed that those conditions have been adhered to.”

While at the clinic, the MMC encouraged patients to abide by the storage requirements of their medication and to take their medication as advised by their healthcare providers.

Dlamini said the unannounced visit to the Edenvale Clinic is one of many visits the MMC will undertake across the city.

He said the objective of the visits is to ensure health facilities are running accordingly and that residents receive the best health care according to the Batho Pele principles.
