I live inside the Edenvale Ridge Residents Association (ERRA) enclosure.

In early February one of the residents contacted the municipal department tasked with repairing street lights.

The street light close to her home, on the corner of Sixth Avenue and Twelfth Street, was not working and all the electrical components of the light were exposed.

The municipality came on February 4 and wrapped masking tape around the street light and the exposed components.

Most of the electrical components are still exposed. I am not sure what use they think the masking tape will do!

I believe it is time that this sort of thing is exposed. No wonder the electricity supply in South Africa is in the state that it is.

They are obviously employing lazy, incompetent fools in these departments.

EDITOR’S COMMENT – A request for comment was sent to the City of Ekurhuleni.

CoE replied that “It was still a work in progress. The problem has been resolved and the pole cover replaced.”
